What happened to all the good jobs? Where did they go and why? Why did they go overseas? America lost its competitive edge in manufacturing because of unions. Unions take at least $8 billion every year from workers paychecks to further pollute the political process. How can this happen in the land of the free? The federal government grants unions the power to force workers to pay or be fired! That’s amounts to a monopoly of control, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
You have some doubts; then let’s look a little deeper. The local 8888 at Newport News Steelworkers union has a long running dispute with their own officers. Their president collected his salary (instead of insurance) while recovering from back surgery last year. Members convened a trial committee to investigate and the verdict was the president and three other officers should be removed from office.
But, the United Steelworkers International vindicated the officers last week! No corruption here. The local members want to take their case to the NLRB. Good luck against the Obama controlled board. Yet these members are seeing their hard earned dollars being misused and abused. That’s why 24 states are now “right to work” states, including Michigan. Still, the United Protective Workers of America union bosses refuse to follow federal financial disclosure requirements to inform workers how their union dues and fees are spent. That may be why an astonishing 80% of Americans feel it’s wrong to force workers to pay tribute to a union boss.
In Pittsburgh a male nurse tells his story of the pressure and tactics by the Service Employees International Union-all this in a free country. He took his fight to the National Right to Work legal defense foundation. Finally there’s a one page bill called the National Right to work Act that can end the fear and union empowerment by the federal government.
