All over East Dallas artists’ tools, supplies and equipment are vying for premier spots during the White Rock Lake Artists’ Studio Tour.
Stain glass, fused glass and smalti glass cut in strips, chips and circles lay poised under cutters. The stronger kiln union wants them cooked.
Wire welders and stick welders complain the torch steals the limelight or fire light, but the torch union whispers threats with heated breath.
Snobby paint brushes dance in and out of paint which prefer fingers. Blank canvases threaten to rub up against painted canvases unless they get hanging space instead of shelf space. The canvas union threatens to split.
Digital and film cameras are best of friends, however tripods insist humans are not necessary. Humans don’t have a union.
Mosaics have run amuck tiling dormant yards, live dogs and cheap garden statuary. The pigeon union is boycotting all.
Potters’ wheels turn hoping to entice clay slabs to dance on them. The clay tool union is thrown.
Rock, paper, scissors understand. This artists’s studio tour spotlights the process. Come see the stars - tools, equipment and demonstrations at the 19th Annual Free White Rock Lake Artists’ Studio Tour, October 15 and 16 from 10:00 to 5:00. And meet artists like the three pictured who happily have no clue of the wars going on in their own studios.
