The drew a crowd of onlookers as they chanted "End this Lockout Now", and "Contract". They had a giant inflatable cat which depicted a giant fat cat squeezing a construction worker by the throat. The Union wanted to bring people's attention their plight. A small crowd of tourists and on lookers poured out from the Reading Terminal Market. Police were called and they blocked off traffic . The crowd milled about the main entry way for about 30 minutes before they started to march on Arch Street and then onto Broad Street. Once there, they stayed in front of the Broad Street entrance before moving on .

It's never a good idea to block traffic . When you do, people get delayed. Blocking traffic caused these people with whom you are seeking sympathy to turn against you and your cause. If you agree that taxes should be lower, and a group protesting this blocks you and causes you to be detoured in center city traffic, you are going to run late. That could have dire consequences if you are a doctor. If you had to get to court you could be held in contempt. Or you may be late for a job interview and that could cause someone else to get hired. While you sit in traffic fuming, you are not going to be supportive of the union or their cause.
