Vienna, OH - "This is about the haves and the have nots," a union protestor in an Obama beanie stated outside a Chamber of Commerce luncheon Thursday at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport where the guest speaker was Ohio Governor John Kasich. "We are the machines that they use to do their work."
This is the class warfare called for by Karl Marx's communism and Saul Alinsky's radicalism to achieve "social justice."
The protests are in response to Senate Bill 5 which would limit the extent of collective bargaining among public employees. The media and unions have mis-characterized the bill as eliminating bargaining all-together, but in reality it would only affect a portion.
"We have to manage costs in this state, we are losing jobs," Kasich said. "Public employees have to realize that people who support their salaries are making enormous sacrifices and, in fact, a lot aren't even working."
Mahoning County Democratic Chairman David Betras claims it is a question of fairness.
"We're going to be at the airport also," Betras stated. "We're going to let our voices be heard that this is an assault on the middle class."
Again, class warfare.
Regarding the "haves and have-nots" and the fairness, the wages and benefits of public employees far outweigh those in the private sector. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that government employees average $33.17 hourly in wages and benefits, while private sector employees averaged $27.88, a difference of $5.29 an hour or an additional $11,003.20 a year.
Public employees were present at this protest, during regular public working hours, collecting public pay for time off.
Ohio workers are forced to join the union representing their peers and dues are taken from them, even if they do not want to.
Protestors chanted, "Kasich sucks!" as the Governor arrived and held signs such as "K-suck" and giving the middle finger to attendees upon arrival at the luncheon. Others walked in the street, forcing cars into the oncoming lane and surrounded cars as they pulled into the airport parking lot, yelling at the occupants. Another sign read, "Screw us and we multiply."
There were also supporters of SB 5 standing off to the side. One held a yellow "Don't Tread on Me" flag which has become a fixture with tea party supporters. Union protestors angrily asked supporters, "Why are you here?" and yelled at them.
The video attached (from WKBN) to this article shows only a small portion of the bad behavior displayed by the unions and Democrats lining the fences.
Betras and Congressman Tim Ryan showed up outside in support of this behavior. Betras was yelling into a bullhorn, riling the crowd up even more.
Betras decried Kasich for moving the event from Leo's Ristorante to the airport hangar, yet stirred up and condoned the behavior which caused the concerns in the first place.
