Union J has cancelled January 2013 concerts in Ireland because Union J's George Shelley, 19, was injured in an accident. He received treatment at a hospital. Union J and their representatives are not yet revealing details about Shelley's accident or injury, but they have been reassuring fans on Twitter that he will be OK and that the concerts will be rescheduled. Shelley is expected to recover in time for "The X Factor" U.K. 2013 tour, which launches January 26 in Manchester, England.
Shelley tweeted on January 2, 2013: "I'm fine just had an accident and won't be able to perform tomorrow, I will be fine in a week or so. So sorry to everyone in Ireland. I have had an accident so we won't be able to perform tomorrow so our gigs have been pulled. Sorry."
Mark Sutton from Union J's management company tweeted: "Ok, let’s put this to sleep I can tell you George had to attend hospital after receiving a nasty injury his not dead or dying as speculated. He's fine."
Blair Dreelan, also from Union J's management company, tweeted: "To all those asking George is fine, just a small accident. Won't be performing at the show tmrw (tomorrow), but will be back in a week or so!... Guys it's not serious, please do not worry, just a small accident! George will be fine and back in action real soon! Shows to be rescheduled."
Shelley's father, Dominic Shelley, tweeted: "I'm sure he will fill you all in soon with the details, thanks for all the kind messages, now stop worrying!"
Jamie "JJ" Hamblett of Union J tweeted: "Get some rest georgey porgey love you bro. Get well soon JJx"
Josh Cuthbert of Union J tweeted: "Glad george is recovering :) sorry once again derry tonight..we will come and reschedule as soon as we can...hope you all understand! Josh x"
Union J came in fourth place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2012. The group's first album for Sony Music should be out before the end of 2013. The album's title, songs and release date are to be announced.
