Union add defensive depth in Supplemental Draft

After last week’s Superdraft, some Philadelphia Union fans were surprised by the moves made. Well the moves made last week set the Union up for some solid draft picks during the MLS Supplemental Draft. They got two additional picks today by moving down two picks in the Superdraft. Three of their five picks were on the defensive side and added some much needed defensive depth. One forward and one midfielder were also taken by the Union.

Two of the players, Eric Schoenle and Leo Fernades, have played for Reading United in the past. The Union now has five former Reading United players on their roster. Schoenle seems to be a player that could have gotten picked up last week, and Union fans should be excited to see him with the Union.

Below is a list of the players drafted by the Union today in the Supplemental Draft. All five players will now join the Union for preseason training before ending the preseason in exhibition games in Florida.
