University of New Hampshire goaltender Casey DeSmith was arrested on a domestic violence charge after a domestic dispute over the weekend.

According to USCHO.com and Foster’s Daily Democrat, in the early hours of August 31st, police officers received a phone call from a woman who made it known that she was a victim of domestic violence and that DeSmith had assaulted her, according to Deputy Chief Rene Kelley.

Once officers found DeSmith, he was taken to the hospital for an assessment. Once the assessment had taken place, the officers on scene attempted to handcuff DeSmith. DeSmith resisted and had to finally be wrestled to the ground.

DeSmith is currently in the Strafford County Jail with a $5,000 personal recognizance bail set. He’s also charged with one count of simple assault and one count of resisting arrest.
