Unexplained phenomenon Google

For the past few days, ‘Unexplained phenomenon Google’ has shown up as a highly searched topic and everyone on Facebook and Twitter is trying to figure out exactly what unexplained phenomenon google is.

Unexplained phenomenon google is a website that crashed for five hours today because most of the world is trying to get on it.  According to unexplained phenomenon google they will release a message on September 7, 2009 and then a video release on September 9, 2009.  Or apparently, you can pay $11.11 to unexplained phenomenon google with a credit card to get in and see what it is all about.  Or perhaps this website is a diversion from what unexplained phenomenon google really is.

Feel free to comment below if you know what this is, or if you've paid to enter the website:

A guess: the three dates on their website is 9-5, 9-7, and 9-9. The price to get in is 11.11
It may be somewhat of a stretch, but what if it has to do with the next odd number in line, 9-11? A memorial of some sort?

Maybe it's the future anniversary of 2012.(not that we'd be able to see it) ;=)

Maybe the real unexplained phenomenon is the human tendency to try to find meaning in things that may not have meaning . . . ?

Before you pay $11.11 do a whois on the website. . . .
    Then read this:

Maybe we should make a list. Here, I'll go first.

So I bought it and I dont know what to do now. I thought some magical land of wonder would open before me but it took me back to the home page after my confirmation.... hmm talk about disapointment lol. I guess I will wait for 2 days and see the message. The biggest let down would be an new advertising tactic. I would hate to think I just donated to the Bush administration or something

Tiffany...good for you for being bold enough to try it. i wish it had opened up a magical land of wonder for you...that would've been worth $11.11. :)

there is some ufo/unexplained phenomenon convention going on today, its the first of this convention so most likely they put it up to indicate that and something got messed up in the system so when you put your mouse over the doodle, it doesn't say why the doodle is up. if it is still up tomorrow then something different is going on and i don't know what

WHOIS shows the registrant's email to be thalis.endeavor@gmail.com. A Google search of THALIS turns up the following website: www.thalas.com. The CEO's name of this company is Joseph James Chung, the same name that whois shows as the Registrant Name for the website in question.

Evidently, this website is a P.R. gimic for thalas.com

Maybe this whole "unexplained phenomenon" thing is sort of like that study that they did at Stanford with young children. They gave the children a choice between eating one marshmallow immediately, or waiting and getting two marshmallows. The choice between paying $11.11 to get the information immediately or just waiting to get the information for free later reminds me of that.

This whole thing also reminds me of Eon8, the mysterious website that baffled the internet back in 2006 before it was revealed to be "an experiment on how the public reacts to a lack of information".

  • marci 2 years ago

i've also heard that the unexplained phenomenon google could have something to do with the new space ship looking logo that comes up over the google symbol. has anyone heard anything about that?

  • Annette P. 2 years ago

Linking the comments by JimBob and Jake...Interestingly enough, Thalas C.E.O. Joseph James Chung seems to be associated with Stanford. Perhaps he's associated with Google as well, because today's "unexplained phenomenon" Google logo is clearly trying to get publicity for this website.

  • marcus 2 years ago

Wait, hold up. Thalas is not just some company...it's partially a website design and management company. www (dot) ithalas (dot) com

Thalas are probably just managing "unexplained phenomenon" for some other company or organization. So it's still a mystery what the purpose of this website is.

This website is not from the aliens, or the government, or the Mayans, and I will tell you why.

The font on the website is Papyrus.

Therefore, it is too tacky to be that serious.
