Understanding demons Bible-style III, tempters in earth's atmosphere

Demons are the most destructive force in this world. Since the first temptation of Adam and Eve, these evil spirits, under the leadership of Satan himself, have been doing everything they can to tempt humanity to live for themselves instead of acknowledging the true God who created them. In this way, the devil claims unsuspecting people for himself. He is in essence the god of mankind–whoever has not recognized the Savior Jesus Christ as the means of reestablishing a relationship with the Creator.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. – II Corinthians 4:3,4, ESV

The Bible describes the devil as "the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now working in the sons of disobedience." (Ephesians 2:2b, EMTV) Satan is the dark lord of evil spirits, who constantly tempt and battle against us weak-minded humans:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies. – Ephesians 6:12, EMTV

Satan hates us. He wants to rule us by devouring our souls–by stealing us away from the loving God who created us.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. – I Peter 5:8, NLT

The only purpose of demons is to tempt us, trap us, and imprison us to do their wills instead of God's will (II Timothy 2:26). They have nothing more important to do. They don't hang out at "The Evil Spirits Bar and Grill" to socialize. They don't play board games, watch movies, and go bowling for entertainment. We are their entertainment 24-7. They do nothing but make a sport of us dumb selfish humans.

The only way we have a chance in this war against demons is if we have believed in Jesus for our Savior against sin and death. If we have done that, then we have the edge:

Because Jesus experienced temptation when he suffered, he is able to help others when they are tempted. – Hebrews 2:18, GW

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – I Corinthians 10:13, ESV

The Bible has clearly told us who is responsible for perpetrating acts of evil in the world. We are such easy targets for demons to tempt because of the sin that is already in our hearts, but Jesus will help us overcome if we have placed our faith in Him. Trust Jesus today if you haven't already.
