The Atlanta Hawks went into Milwaukee missing Jeff Teague (ankle sprain), Pero Antic (stress fracture, ankle), and Al Horford (torn pectoral muscle, out for the year). Combined with a poor record on the road so far this year and a blowout loss the previous night to San Antonio by 26 points, expectations were reasonable tempered going into Saturday night's game.
Paul Millsap led the way for Atlanta with 20 points and eight rebounds. He was one of six Hawks to score in double figures as the Hawks controlled the game from start to finish. At center, recent signee Gustavo Ayon, signed to fill the absence of Antic, started and had eight points and two steals while Elton Brand added 10 points and five rebounds.
The point guard duties, in Teague's absence, were shared by Shelvin Mack and Lou Williams. Williams had 18 points and five assists, while Mack added nine points and four assists.
Drew and the Bucks have struggled this season, with a league-worst record of 8-35. The club ranks last in points scored per game and Drew is already on the hot seat for the club's ineptitude this season.
Atlanta, meanwhile, continues to surprise. After getting rid of Drew and losing Josh Smith to free agency and Horford to injury for the season, the club is managing to stay in the playoff race with a 23-20 record.
Teague may return early next week from his injury, while Antic will be out until the All-Star Break with his stress fracture. FOr the next nine games, the Hawks will have to manage with who they have left.
