No matter the circumstance, it’s about finding ways to win that matter for the Bulls.
That was the case in their 93-76 victory over the Atlanta Hawks without Kirk Hinrich, Carlos Boozer or Joakim Noah.
Luol Deng led the way with 25 points and 14 rebounds. He also totaled four steals and two blocks. Taj Gibson contributed 19 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. Nate Robinson finished with 20 and Jimmy Butler completed the frontline trio double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Both Deng and Gibson played all 48 minutes in Friday night’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets and even on what had to be tired legs, found a way to log 46 and 45 minutes respectively.
"They kept giving me electrolytes during the game but I just kept wanting to play," Gibson said. "I know late in the game (against Brooklyn) I ran out of gas and I didn't want that to happen tonight because I felt like we let one slide last night and this team is even better. So I had to go out there and just play a little harder."
Atlanta held a 44-43 edge at halftime, but would be held to just 32 points in the second half.
One night after getting killed on the glass, the Bulls edged the Hawks 53-45 in that category as well as only turning the ball over seven times.
"It just says a lot about the group of guys that have been here and that are here," Deng said. "The guys that the front office bring in, the character of the guys, the core of the team; we're good guys.”
