Undercover C5 Corvette plays with street racer

Entering the highway, an undercover agent in a C5 Corvette tempts the likes of a street racer at his game. The C5 Corvette undercover unit is a "bait and hook" technique commonly used by police officers around the country. Baiting the street racer into a race by pulling up behind him in a manner that suggests "I want to race you", the street racer replies back with a typical entrance ramp pull. Is this street racing or was the suspect just accelerating through the entrance ramp?

Shortly after the pull, the street racer proceeds to break further traffic laws by not using a turn signal to change lanes! The fines keep adding up as the undercover unit continues to play with the street racer. Flashing the police lights as a warning, the street racer becomes shocked and instantly hits the brakes. Then, the undercover unit decides to play mind games with him and turn off his lights. The officer then pulls up next to the street racer, and confusion begins to take over. It is unclear whether or not the street racer was actually pulled over and cited for illegal lane changing and possible street racing.

Is this street racing, or is it just a quick entrance ramp pull? There is no clear line drawn in the theoretical sand when it comes to how fast you can legally accelerate while on an entrance ramp. As long as you don't exceed the speed limit, you can't technically be charged with speeding. However, if the entrance ramp acceleration is done in a wreckless manner, possible wreckless driving or public endangerment infractions could exist. Breaking the tires loose on any public road is wreckless driving. The next time you are on the entrance ramp, take it easy!
