"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." (John 14:1-7) NIV
Americans welcome ideas, which differ from the norm. Unfortunately this open forum does not extend to the Christian religion. Recently I listened to a debate on CNN, as to whether the words, "under God," should be stricken from the Pledge of Allegiance. One of those debating proposed that our forefathers were not specifically speaking of God but rather a higher power, which made our form of government possible.
Jesus Christ was precise in his terminology in John 14. Jesus was, and is, the God of the universe. Those who trust in him for eternal life will not be disappointed.
Over six years have passed since my mother went to be with Jesus. I take comfort in knowing where she is. I look forward someday to joining her and my father in Heaven. You too can have this blessed assurance if you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
