Uncle Leo’s popular “not just” coffee and donut shop opened last month at 19 Main St in Redding, CT (the Georgetown area, near Route 107). The young owner, Leo Spinelli, persuaded his father to part with the family recipe book from the old Spinelli Bagel company of Norwalk, which closed when his parents retired. They decided to open the shop together in an empty storefront in Georgetown: it opened on June 4th, and has been a big hit ever since.
This new shop features freshly baked doughnuts as well as bagels and Italian breads and is open Mondays through Saturdays from 5am to 4pm and on Sunday from 6 am to 2pm.
But most important, Spinelli has made a hit with some of the most delicious doughnuts in the region, both bigger and tastier than any competing business can offer. And, of course, they are freshly made every day right there on the spot! They offer 10 kinds of doughnuts, 10 kinds of bagels, 6 kinds of muffins and other assorted baked goods.
There are a couple of tables inside and out, and a coffee bar near the counter, where you can select from a plethora of coffees
Driving directions if you aren’t familiar with the Georgetown area are pretty simple. Heading north on Route 7, take a right onto Route 107 at the Georgetown traffic light, and then take your first right onto Route 57 and a quick left onto Main St. Uncle Leo’s is halfway down the street on the left, set slightly back from the street. There is parking on the street and in an adjacent lot.
We were there early enough to get glazed and jelly donuts, apparently the first to sell out, and we can’t recommend them highly enough. You’ll love them.
