Uncle Darrow's hosted it's annual 'Mardi Gras West Celebration' on Saturday, March 8th in beautiful Marina Del Rey California which also happens to be one of the largest events in the area. Complete with family style dinning and a live stage to provide all the music and plenty of room for anyone who wanted to dance. This was a family friendly event with horse rides, face painting and plenty of smiles, colorful masks and beautiful costumes and we cant forget the great food to make this Mardi Gras celebration the King of Los Angeles.

Mardi Gras, an annual Christian holiday commemorating the traditional feast day before the start of Lent season originally began medieval Europe, mostly Rome. Eventually it spread to France then across Europe before making it America by the late eighteenth century. Talk about a party that travels.

In New Orleans the wearing masks is a must for float riders. This is especially true on Fat Tuesday. Way back in the day during European festivals masks made it possible for people from different social standings to chills with one another, while in New Orleans wearing a mask served to squash racial issues during carnival

Although United Kingdom doesn't name the traditional feast day it is commemorated as Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday. With celebrations taking place in mostly Roman Catholic areas, Saint Louis boasts the second largest celebration outside of New Orleans.

Uncle Darrow's brings together all the traditions and magic of Mardi Gras for all to enjoy right here in Los Angeles, however there is something uniquely different that sets this celebration apart from all others and that's the love and huge amount of respect this family owned business holds for their customers. For them, their Mardi Gras celebration is about fellowship and their way of saying 'thank you' to their customers.

It was so refreshing to see people from all different backgrounds smiling, laughing, dancing, sharing stories and enjoying the best down home cooking as only Uncle Darrow's can provide. Seeing the smiles on all the faces of small kids as they rode horses and had their faces painted along with the looks of joy and great pleasure on the faces of people dancing their hearts out was awesome. Breaking bread with complete strangers while sharing amazing conversations was priceless making this celebration like no other.

Uncle Darrow's is casual style restaurant specializing in southern delicacies like file' gumbo, fried farm raised catfish, jambalaya, red beans and rice and those world famous po' boy sandwiches, atmosphere that is clean and friendly with large portions and fair prices.

Uncle Darrow's is located at 2560 S. Lincoln Blvd., in Marina Del Rey California
