Unclaimed, micro-chipped dog grows increasingly depressed at animal control

Not long ago, a dirty, matted dog was picked up as a stray and taken to the Contra Costa Animal Shelter in Martinez, Calif.

At the shelter, the little dog was scanned for a microchip and for a moment, after a chip was found, there was hope that a reunion might take place. Unfortunately, when a call was made to the number associated with the microchip, the owner failed to come to the shelter to claim the dog which has been dubbed "Titto."

Titto's stray hold is up and according to the shelter, the unclaimed dog is "shut down" and growing more depressed with each passing day. On Thursday, the following information was provided to the National Dog News Examiner:

He is very friendly, no medical issues...just very very sad! His owner was called and just never came! His stray hold is up!

As well as:

(He is) very shut down/terrified but does respond to gentle overtures. He is a dirty matted mess, seems to have been fairly neglected. We are hoping that someone will see past the fur and into his sweet soul. Titto is approx. 4 years old. He can be adopted with a signed "waiver" or we can put them in contact with a local rescue!

Please take a moment to share this sad dog's information - he needs to leave the facility and recuperate from his emotional trauma with a loving guardian.
