Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed a new sales milestone for the PS3 exclusive video game, “The Last of Us.” According to a report from Game Planet on March 17, the publisher revealed that the survival-horror action-adventure video game has surpassed 6 million copies sold.
“The Last of Us” is a new intellectual property developed by Naughty Dog, the same studio behind the upcoming tentatively-titled “Uncharted 4.” The video game became the fastest selling PS3 game when it was first released on June 14, 2013, with more than 3.4 million units sold within three weeks. “GTA 5” would break the same record several months later.
Sony Computer Entertainment is not yet done banking on “The Last of Us,” however, as the company recently announced a new movie deal with Ghost House Pictures. The plot of the film is expected to stay true to the video game. You can find some screens of the award-winning and best-selling software product with the slideshow to the left of this article.
One of the development teams from Naughty Dog is currently working on “Uncharted 4,” which was announced late last year as a PS4 exclusive title. The other division is currently mulling over whether or not to create a new franchise or a sequel to “The Last of Us.”
Sony Computer Entertainment is the company responsible for publishing and distributing both aforementioned video games.
