During E3 2014 this past week, Sony and Naughty Dog officially unveiled the first official in-game footage for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End for the PS4. According to a report by GamerHeadlines from June 12, Naughty Dog has released some in-depth information regarding Uncharted 4’s storyline and disclosed details as to when the title will see release on Sony’s latest home console.

Though the debut trailer was brief – you can watch it in full here, it provided fans with a first glimpse of Nathan Drake’s new adventure on a dangerous island setting eerily similar to that of the setting from the first Uncharted title, Drake’s Fortune. Showcasing stunning in-game visuals – yes, Naughty Dog has confirmed that the footage is actual gameplay footage, it seems that Naughty Dog is pushing the PS4’s hardware with their first next-gen release. Currently, Naughty Dog is targeting to have Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End to run at 1080p and 60 frames-per-second on PS4.

While the trailer doesn’t reveal much in terms of storyline, developer Naughty Dog has dropped some information to give players a general premise and idea of what awaits Nathan Drake and company with A Thief’s End. According to the company, this new game will take Drake on a globe-trotting journey as he searches for a fabled pirate treasure. Described as Drake’s greatest adventure yet, the ordeal will test his physical strengths and have him decide what he is willing to lose in order to save the ones he loves the most. Find Naughty Dog’s full detailed explanation below:

The next generation of Nathan Drake is going to be very real and will explore what it means when Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. He will embark on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. It’s his greatest adventure yet and will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.

The tale sound grim for Nate and friends, but fans will have to wait quite some time before they are able to get their hands on the game. Naughty Dog has revealed that Uncharted 4 will release for PS4 sometime in 2015. Given that the previous three iterations released during the second half of the year, it seems like a safe bet that A Thief’s End will be release close to the 2015 holiday season.
