Arne Meyer has commented on the possibility of Naughty Dog working reviving some older franchises. According to a report from VG247 on July 23, the community strategist was first asked if the studio would consider creating a new installment to either the "Crash Bandicoot" or "Jak and Daxter" franchises. He mentioned that the possibility is still there for the development team to return to its roots. However, he also admitted that it won't be playing to the current strengths of Naughty Dog.

The studio came into prominence with "Crash Bandicoot" for the original Playstation. However, the rights for the franchise got sold off to Activision, which complicates the situation. On the other hand, the "Jak and Daxter" series is owned by Sony Computer Entertainment. In fact, Naughty Dog actually started work on the next installment.

After the release of "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves," the studio added a second internal development team. The group started to work on a "Jak and Daxter" video game that is more story-focused than the previous entries. Ultimately, they decided that the new twist did not fit the platforming franchise and scrapped the project in favor of "The Last of Us."

The decision ended up paying off as the new intellectual won numerous Game of the Year awards while selling six million copies on the PS3 alone. The PS4 version will be released next week as well. You can find an image featuring the upcoming "The Last of Us Remastered" near the top of this article (via the official Twitter page of the studio).

Arne Meyer sounded more optimistic when talking about the possibility of releasing the first three games of the "Uncharted" series on the PS4, disclosing that it would be nice to expand the audience for the series. However, Naughty Dog will have to find a way to fit the remastered port in the development line. The studio recently completed the production of the aforesaid "The Last of Us Remastered" and is currently working on "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
