June pronounces the debut month that the previously announced superstar team-up of Scott Snyder and Jim Lee unleashes an all-new title.
DC Comics announced via USA Today that not only the release date, but that the production publication coincides with “Man of Steel” in timing as well as in the cover’s caption Superman Unchained.
Last year the shockwave responses to an initial poster for “Man of Steel” put Kal-El in handcuffs while fully decked in the movie's self-purported battle suit.
Snyder, acclaimed writer of America Vampire and the critically venerated “Court of Owls” for the Batman series, and Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher, poise this new comic book at the tail end of Grant Morrison’s last Action Comics.
The top selling comics writer had announced his departure from the groundbreaking re-introduction of Superman’s long-time and original titular series a year back.
Superman Unchained arrives a month following Morrison’s last Action Comics issue in May.
“We're all fans and we've all known this character for a long time," Jim Lee told USA TODAY about the challenge of tackling the iconic Man of Steel. “You have to fight your natural tendency to do what you know or what you've always thought the character to be.”
