UNC women’s ultimate Frisbee team takes fourth at CCC

In the first major tournament of the college off-season, UNC-Chapel Hill’s women’s ultimate Frisbee team came in as defending champions and left with a solid performance, though not an overall victory.

Classic City Classic, a USA Ultimate-sanctioned college tournament, was held Nov. 13 and 14 in Athens, Ga., and boasted 16 college women’s teams.

UNC’s Pleiades entered the tournament seeded third and emerged fourth.

The women held seed in pool play, going undefeated and entering with a first round bye into the championship bracket.

Pleiades beat eighth-seeded Virginia 13-9 in quarterfinals, but lost 11-13 to Michigan, seeded second, in the semis.

That loss dropped the team to the third-place game against fourth-seeded Texas. Texas won 13-12, leaving UNC in fourth.

UNC-Wilmington took first, beating Michigan 13-10 in the final.
