Look at the Section 4AA baseball bracket on mshsl.org and you'll see that the top two teams have been eliminated by the eighth seeded Holy Angels Stars. Their most recent victim was the top seeded St. Anthony Village Huskies on Tuesday night in a 7-5 win in 10 innings at Palm Field in St. Anthony.
Holy Angels broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the top of the 10th inning. St. Anthony Village went up against relief pitcher Kyle Schnichels and the junior pitcher retired the first two batters, gave up a double and got Ryan Bernardy on a called third strike to end the season for the team that was the top ranked team in Class AA.
The stars advance to the championship game against the third seeded Blake Bears. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, June 4 at 5 PM at Midway Stadium in St. Paul but due to Blake's graduation that night, the game will be switched to Friday afternoon. Time and venue to be determined.
If Blake wins the game, they will advance to the state tournament on June 12 at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud. A win by Holy Angels and there will be a second game since both teams would have one loss.
