Un4seen white wine blend: A head start on warmer days

For those who relish peach, lemon, melon, and a spash of floral in a wine’s bouquet, this clever white wine is for you. Artfully blended using Chardonnay, Semillion, Moscato and Voignier, this fruit roit makes for a great “cocktail wine” that is sure to catch the attention of your guests.

Un4seen’s summery disposition provides a welcome introduction to spring’s hint of outdoor fun to come, and if you live in warmer climes, this goes great with the anticipation of warmer days that will be arriving quite quickly.

Un4seen started producing this blend a few years ago, so it’s fairly new on the scene. But their white wine entry into the “fresh luncheon partner” club has a pedigree of carefully sourced and blended fruit. Their winemaker, Karen Birmingham, has recognized the strengths of varietals that don’t traditionally play well together and created a distinctive wine.

In addition to its inviting bouquet, Un4seen white sports a mouthful of fruit with a blast of melon followed by acidity that is more like oranges, rather than the expected grapefruit/lemon that is so much more common (especially in Sauvignon Blancs).

With just a tad of residual sugar, this wine will work quite well with spicy appetizers like Chili Poppers or Thai starters. It also retains its character after sitting in the glass for awhile and morphs like a good Chardonnay (is different when you return to it). The perfect match for a lively luncheon conversation.

Chill in the fridge for about 40 minutes before serving (55-60 degrees). Its peach, lemon and melon flavors should jump right out of the glass, so don’t serve too cold. Drink now, because this 2010 gem is ready when you are, especially at $10.99.
