UN donates $10 million to Chile relief; Chile’s had over 200 aftershocks since earthquake. The United Nations (UN) announced Friday that they would donate $10 million for Chile earthquake relief. The money will go toward rebuilding areas that were destroyed. The UN will also set up a joint task force immediately to help in Chile.

"In times of catastrophe, the U.N. focuses on food, water and waste management, health and housing," UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said. Satellite phones, water treatment plants and vaccinations have already been donated by the UN.

Chilean officials have tracked over 200 aftershocks since the massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit one week ago. The aftershocks have sent terrorized residents inland and away from the coastal areas. The aftershocks have ranged in magnitude up to 6.8 in magnitude Thursday. For more on that story, click here.

Hawaii residents were awakened at 6 am Saturday morning with a loud siren blast to warn residents who were unaware of a possible tsunami that may hit later this morning. For more on that story, click here.

Saturday, Kathy Banks, a resident of Salt Lake City has family living in the coastal areas of the big island of Hawaii and was worried. “This Tsunami appears as though it will be huge. I hope that they can get away from the coast as soon as possible. I spoke to my family briefly this morning and they were in line to get gasoline and were trying to get inland as soon as they can.”

The video below shows a family business that has been destroyed because of the earthquake, and how they are trying to get their lives back after the massive earthquake that hit just one week ago.

Scientists at NASA say the earthquake in Chile caused the earth's axis to shift, which in turn shortened the earth’s day by 1.26 microseconds. NASA also stated that after the Indonesia tsunami in 2004, the Earth’s days were shortened by 6.8 microseconds. For more on that story, click here.
