Umphrey's McGee and Local H both announced Des Moines concert dates this week. Here are all the details.
Progressive rock jam band Umphrey's McGee has been added to the Nitefall on the River summer concert series. The Indiana natives will play the Simon Estes Amphitheater in Des Moines on July 24 at 8 p.m. The band has charted five albums on the Billboard Indie chart and has seen three hit the Top 20. The band's new album Similar Skin is due out on June 10. Tickets for the Nitefall show will go on sale on Friday, April 11 at 10 a.m. through Ticketfly. Ticket prices will be $25 in advance and $30 at the gate for this all ages performance. No opening band has been announced for the concert as of yet.
Alternative rock duo Local H will come to Des Moines on Saturday, June 7 for a concert at East Village venue Wooly's. The band hit it big with their 1996 smash "Bound for the Floor" (featured video). The single went Top 10 on Billboard's Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and received endless radio airplay in Central Iowa. Local H released a new EP last year entitled The Another February EP. Opening the show for the Zion, Illinois natives will be the Cincinnati indie pop band Bad Veins. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. all ages concert at Wooly's are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
