UMBC lacrosse beats Vermont in overtime

The UMBC lacrosse team continued its winning streak Saturday, beating America East Conference opponent Vermont 8-7 in overtime.

The Retrievers clinched a spot in the four team AEC Tournament with the win, according to their website.

In what has been an out-of-character season for Don Zimmerman's Retrievers, a couple of players provided surprise performances to keep UMBC undefeated against the Catamounts. The Retrievers have never lost since joining the AEC.

Maxx Davis, primarily a defensive midfielder, scored three goals in the win, including the game winner in overtime.

Freshman goalkeeper Adam Cohen, meanwhile, made three saves in the fourth quarter to help force an extra period.

UMBC is now 3-1 in the conference.
