The updates for The Avenger's next villain continue to emerge. Today, Entertainment Weekly sat down with director Joss Whedon and discuss none other than The Avengers: Age of Ultron. During the interview, EW and Joss Whedon talked about the antagonist and Whedon brought up an interesting development for the character's direction.
"As a character I love [Ultron] because he’s so pissed off,” Whedon says. "...I knew right away what I wanted to do with him. He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it. He’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because, at some point, everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone who’s a witch.”
The general idea behind the statement is that Ultron is going to be one angry robot. In any case, it seems that Joss Whedon wants to make Ultron not your standard robotic antagonist. That seems like a good strategy to have a character to stand out. What do you think of this move?
The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1,2015.
