The next iteration of the legendary fighting game franchise, Ultra Street Fighter IV, is set to debut in New York. Oddly enough, it’s coming to Astoria, Queens! The special preview event will take place on Saturday, May 17, from 12 noon to 8PM, at Break - Bar and Billiards, on Broadway between 33rd and 32nd streets (32-04 Broadway). There will be an entrance fee of ten dollars. The event is a joint presentation by Capcom and Fingercramp, with NYC’s TeamPIE, and a special appearance by Combofiend, himself, a little over two weeks before the digital update goes live.

The update includes five new characters, new stage backgrounds, several additions to the online component including an online training mode, a King of Fighters style 3-on-3 team battle, and the ability to upload online and offline battle replays directly to YouTube. New additions to the core game have been added to help increase the strategic element of the game. Character rebalancing based on players’ feedback have been implemented. And a special option has been included for players to choose to play their favorite (Street Fighter IV) version of their characters.

To get to the venue, the best way is by subway. Take the Queens bound N or Q train to Broadway (in Queens, of course). The Break is a block away, past 32nd street on the second floor, above a market. It is also possible to take the R train to Steinway street in Queens. Simply navigate to Broadway from the station, turn and walk west towards the N/Q train (an elevated train section). Municipal parking is also available around the corner of the venue with entrances on 32nd street and also 31st street, under the elevated tracks.
