Ultra Music Festival stage collapse: Four injured during setup

With less than 24 hours before the Ultra Music Festival double weekend in Miami, part of the stage collapsed injuring members of the setup crew.

Local10.com reports four members of the crew were injured after a jumbotron screen collapsed on the main stage at Bayfront Park.

Miami Fire-Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll said two of the victims were trapped inside the stage and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, NBC 6 South Florida reported.

A third crew member is listed in stable condition while a fourth crew member was treated at the scene.

The structual soundness of the stage is being confirmed by authorities.

The first weekend of the EDM festival is scheduled to begin Friday, March 15 with Swedish House Mafia, Bassnectar, Kaskade, Tiesto, Deadmau5 and Avicci expected to perform.

Event organizers released the following statement late Thursday evening:

"Today as preparations were being made for this weekend’s Ultra Music Festival, a section of an LED screen fell and injured two workers. Fire Rescue was on site so there was a rapid response. Festival organizers are working with, and supporting, authorities as they investigate the details behind the accident."
