"Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1" arrives today in comic shops and on the Marvel Comics App, kicking off an all new era for the world’s most popular super hero. In August 2011, Marvel launched "Ultimate Comics Reborn," a relaunch of the genre-defining imprint that reimagined the world’s most popular super heroes for a new generation. Featuring bold new takes on Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, the X-Men and more, "Ultimate Comics Reborn" also reinvented Spider-Man in a move that captured interest and sparked commentary from fans all over the world, as Peter Parker was permanently replaced as Spider-Man for the first time in his fifty-year history.
Miles Morales debuted this summer, but now readers will learn just how this regular kid from Brooklyn gained super powers, and how it’s all tied to Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man. Marvel promises that before Miles dons his all new Spider-costume, he’ll first have to deal with dangers—and secrets—like no other super hero has experienced before.
"Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1" is written by Brian Michael Bendis and penciled by Sara Pichelli.
“We’re extremely proud of 'Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1' and excited for fans to discover the origin of this new Spider-Man,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor in Chief, in a press release distributed by Marvel. “Brian and Sara have created an important new character in Miles Morales, one that speaks not only to the diversity—in background and experience—of a modern reader, but also to what it means to be a super hero in today’s world.”
Readers of course, will have the final say, but with a "Spider-Man" 3D cinematic reboot on the horizon, this is a comic book launch that will get attention.
