- Artist chart: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis maintains the #1 spot while Tegan and Sara come charging onto this week’s chart with a Top 15 debut.
For a second straight week, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, continue to match their success on the Ultimate Song Chart, maintaining the top position as ‘King of the Mountain’ on this week’s Ultimate Artist Chart as well. “Thrift Shop,” the duo’s 5th and final single from The Heist CD has already been certified multi-platinum and as such, has logged 3 weeks at #1 on the Ultimate Song Chart, while spending its 10th non-consecutive week inside the Top 20. Sales have continued to surge as well, with Seattle duo keeping 2 songs in the Top 75 on iTunes Top Songs chart. In addition, the pair have also broken through the Top 50 threshold on the iTunes Top Videos chart while their YouTube page expands at a rapid rate, with 400,000+ subscribers while collecting a cumulative 150+ million video views.
The alternative pop/rock duo of Tegan & Sara charge onto the Ultimate Artist Chart, debuting at #13 this week. Helping to raise the sibling’s profile, the identical twin sisters’ Top 15 debut can be attributed to a career-high 49,000 copies sold in its first week of release, almost twice that of their previous best sales week, when Sainthood sold more than 24,000 in its opening week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. With 71% of its sales generated from downloads, the band’s seventh studio album, Heartthrob, climbs into the Top 25 (#23) on iTunes Top Albums chart. Radio support for the lead single “Closer” has also struck a positive chord with both the Alternative and Hot AC radio audiences, placing the single in the Top 30 and Top 50 of Mediabase’s monitored alternative and Hot AC charts respectively, while attracting more than 2 million YouTube views and just under 20,000 “Like” votes. In addition, their YouTube channel has amassed more than 70,000+ subscribers while accumulating 20+ million video views.
