Ulster County's aggressive pilot program funds new hires

In his State of the County Address, Ulster County Executive Hein discussed an aggressive pilot program to help unemployed residents get back to work. According to today's press release, this program provides qualified employers of Ulster County with significant funding to train eligible new hires for skills that will help their businesses to grow.

“In spite of all the progress, we must acknowledge that for some the American dream still remains elusive,” stated County Executive Hein. “To improve the opportunity for those who have struggled most, we are launching an aggressive pilot program designed to assist chronically unemployed individuals and eliminate the largest barriers for employers and employees. This program provides Ulster County businesses with 90% of the gross wages to offset training costs for eligible new hires, providing hope where there was previously none. The goal here is clear: to put people back to work long-term.”

For more information about this important program, Ulster County’s Office of Business Services and Office of Employment & Training will conduct a webinar for local businesses on Thursday, February 6th at Noon. This Webinar is free and we invite all interested Ulster County businesses to register. Experts will walk employers through the eligibility criteria and explain how they can apply for funds to train new hires.

The webinar is free and available to all Ulster County businesses. To register visit: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3584120190645224962 or contact the Ulster County Office of Business Services at 845-340-3556 or obs@co.ulster.ny.us.
