Jim Ulrich's 299 game highlights this week's high score report.

Jim Ulrich is certainly no stranger to high-scoring accomplishments, and his latest standout performance included a 299 game that capped a four-game 981 series in the Wednesday Men's Trio League at Bowland Port Charlotte.

Ulrich's feat is the headline item in this weekend's report on top league efforts at bowling centers in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.

In increasing his summer league average to 226, Ulrich blasted games of 224, 238, 220 and 299, and he was denied final-game perfection when stymied by a 12th-ball 7-pin despite a flush pocket hit.

Statistics on the United States Bowling Congress' Web site indicate eight certified perfect games by Ulrich, and his 299-game count now stands at four. Ulrich carried a 210 yearbook average during the 2013-14 season, and he has consistently been at the 210 mark or better -- with highs of 226 -- for more than a decade.

Four area bowlers strung 10 consecutive strikes in a single game to finish with scores in the 280s, headed by James McCleland, who posted a 289 in the middle of a 660 series in the Bob Anderson Plumbing Mixed League at Sarasota Lanes.

Ron Klazon fired a 287 game in the middle of a 661 series, also in the Bob Anderson Plumbing Mixed League, while Rafael Perez and Bob Frisby each finished with scores of 280. Perez used his 280 to jump-start a 712 series in the Cook Spring Invitational League at Sarasota Lanes, and Frisby's 280 concluded a 695 series in the Lucky Train League at Bowland Port Charlotte.

Robert Taylor pounded out a 101-over-average 275 game in the middle of a 640 series in the Pete's Patio Mixed League at Englewood Bowl, and Carlton Hendrickson had a 153-over-average 735 series that included games of 268 and 266 in the Bob Anderson Plumbing Mixed League at Sarasota Lanes.
