UIWs Men's team has continued to play as an independent in Division I and played a fellow Southland team, stranded without men's soccer in the conference, Oral Roberts University but neither side was able to find a goal as the match ended scoreless in Tulsa on Tuesday.
For UIW it was their first draw of the season after they went through almost two hours of the match with neither side able to find a goal.
Throughout the match both teams had their chances but the defenses they were up against were much too solid to stop the match.
UIW were just about the better side in the regulation stages just edging the shot count but neither side was really able to generate clear cut chances.
In extra-time ORU were by far the dominant side as they left UIW with only a couple of chances created by the Cardinals but still they were able to hold out ORU.
The finishing showed the challenge for UIW this year as they face a season without a conference home and infrequent matches prevent the Cardinals from gaining any solid momentum and also from attracting talent.
