With his 1,002nd career point scored in Saturday's loss, Robo Kreps became the 20th player in UIC history to score 1,000 points--and this junior guard is far from done.
Kreps added eight points, four boards and three assists in UIC's (6-19, 2-13 Horizon League) crushing loss to conference cross-town rival Loyola Chicago (14-11, 5-10), 80-63.
Kreps has been a bright spot in a browbeaten season for the Flames with team-leading stats that include 14.1 ppg, 44 3-pointers and 3.72 free throws bucketed per game. Among the Horizon League, he's currently the 10th highest scorer, leads in free throw percentage (.869) and is 11th in steals with 1.2 per game.
With Spencer Stewart, Chris Buchanan and Jeremy Buttell finishing their UIC careers this season, the Flames will be hitching their hopes to Kreps to lead a UIC squad that is struggling to find its rhythm, and he'll need to help rebuild the confidence of his teammates in the off-season.
Kreps and the Flames travel to Indianapolis Wednesday to take on first place Butler at 6pm CT. Catch the action online at www.HorizonLeagueNetwork.tv.
