Uhuru a charity worth a love letter

Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles in Oakland, Calfornia is a charity worth a love letter. Uhuru, whose mission is defending the human and civil rights of the African Community while addressing the grave disparities in health (October 9th wellness festival), education, social justice and economic development faced by the African community, deserves the kind of thanks that charities deserve for their commitment to making the world a better place. But it deserves a personal thank you as well.

A while ago I had an enormous piece of furniture I could no longer use, and, simply enough, had to get it moved into someone else’s life. Not so easy as you might think. Uhuru to the rescue. They would, I was assured, come pick this piece up and make sure it ended up as someone else’s treasure. Guilty as I started to feel for foisting what seemed to be a hopeless undertaking on these two dear men, not for a moment did they waver in their resolve to complete this task. Not for a moment did their mood plummet. And, not for a moment did they make me feel delinquent for the huge challenge they faced at my behest. These two smart, unflappable, good-humored, powerful men made me know the world was in good hands.

Now you know what we say here at the Love Letter Squad Headquarters; gratitude taken to the grave serves no one. We say write it, mail it and let someone know they made a difference in your life. I invite you to come visit us to hear some examples of gratitude beautifully stated.

From me to you with love in the air,
Janet
