The University of Houston Clear Lake’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities Speakers Series next speaker is Charity English, B.S., who will present a session on ‘Capturing Motivation & Teachable Moments at Home & School’ on November 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall 1100 of the Student Services Building. University of Houston Clear Lake is located at 2700 Bay Area Blvd.
The ‘Capturing Motivation & Teachable Moments at Home & School’ session will focus on the principles of ‘Incidental Teaching,’ by identifying and creating learning opportunities within a natural learning environment, making learning fun. The session will also teach attendees how to capitalize on individuals’ interests at home, at school, and within their daily lives, helping learners to request, label, and describe items they encounter, want, and need. The session should be especially helpful for teachers, parents, and professionals who work with and live with individuals with limited verbal skills.
The session is free, and there will be a complimentary lunch provided by their sponsor, the JSC Federal Credit Union. Those who wish to RSVP for the free lunch should email firstname.lastname@example.org by November 4. Other sponsors include Hegwood & Associates, P.C., JSC Federal Credit Union, Spectrum of Hope/BASIS, InKids, and Susie Bean Gives!
For professionals who choose to attend the session, CEUs are available.
