The ugly Christmas sweater gets a digital makeover by a rocket scientist whose new business Digital Dudz is taking off in leaps and bounds. No, this is not a new comic book story line, but a new way to express your love for the holidays in a hideous sweater that crackles and lights up like a fire place, according to the New York Daily News on Dec. 6.
A former NASA engineer threw in the towel six months ago at the space agency to concentrate on his digital apparel. Mark Rober’s made a hit so far with his Christmas sweater that has a brick fireplace, hearth and mantle on the front of the sweater. The opening of the fireplace has a pocket for your Smartphone.
There’s a free app to download to make your sweater come alive. That app offers a roaring fire that fills up your phone’s screen. Once you’ve captured the animation with the app, the phone sits in the pocket and you have a roaring fire on your chest.
Digital Dudz also offers a very animated Christmas caroling kitty. With the phone in the pocket of the cat sweater, the cat’s eyes and mouth start their animation with the Christmas carols. It looks like the cat is singing.
Rober made a killing with his Halloween costumes using these apps and it looks as if he may be bringing those ugly Christmas sweaters out of hibernation and to a new level this year.
This Digital Dudz designer also worked on the Curiosity Rover. Today the man’s creative mind is bringing Christmas cheer to sweaters all over the nation today!
