The University of Georgia men pulled off an upset today on the basketball court, defeating the No. 11 Florida Gators at Stegeman Coliseum.

The Hoop Dogs (13-15, SEC 4-10) never fell behind their rival in the 76-62 win, with the Gators never getting closer than five points to the Dawgs. Freshman guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and senior guard Gerald Robinson led the Dawgs, scoring double-digits with 18 and 15 points, respectively. Freshman forward Nemania Diurisic also led the Dawgs with seven rebounds. Additionally, the team was shooting at almost 55 percent from the field, while Florida only shot at 36 percent. UGA head basketball coach Mark Fox was impressed with his team.

"That was a great win for us," Coach Fox said on "We beat a great Florida team that we have a tremendous amount of respect for. It's a big win for us and we're very proud of it.”

Also, he pointed out, the Bulldogs had no special plans or secret plays that led them to victory over the Gators; they simply played their game, and played it well through all four quarters.

"It's just a matter of shots going in,” Coach Fox explained. “We didn't change anything about our game, we didn't do anything differently, and the ball was just going in. It had nothing to do with coaching, our guys just finished plays and the shots were dropping."

Today’s win brings the series to the Hoop Dogs leading 107-98 all-time; they lead 62-36 when playing in Athens.

Next up, the Hoop Dogs will be on the road to face the No. 1 team in the nation.

Georgia v. Kentucky is scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 1, at 9 p.m. (ET). Fans can watch the game nationally on ESPN.
