The Gym Dogs (5-2, SEC 4-1) posted their second-highest score of the season, defeating Kentucky 197.225-193.125 on Saturday. The win boosted them to a tie with Alabama at No. 3, with a 196.725 average. The Florida Gators are at No. 1 (196.929), followed by Oklahoma at No. 2 (196.784), Georgia and Alabama, Utah (196.721) and UCLA (196.543), to round out the Top 5.
In events, UGA is third on bars (49.229), fourth on beam (49.139), seventh on floor (49.121) and ninth on vault (49.236).
Gym Dog Kat Ding is still in a tie for No. 1 in the all-around, after a 39.550 in the meet with Kentucky.
Beginning next week, teams will no longer receive rankings based on average scores, but will be nationally ranked based on Regional Qualifying Scores, which is determined by the six best regular season scores, including three away scores. The high score is eliminated, and the remaining five are averaged. At this point, Oklahoma has the highest RQS with a 196.995, followed by Florida (196.925), UCLA (196.725), Georgia (196.660) and Utah (196.555) to round out the Top 5.
UGA will be on the road later this week.
Georgia v. Florida is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24, at Florida. Rotations are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
