UGA Football: Tight end Jay Rome commits to Georgia over Alabama

Jay Rome, the top tight end recruit in the nation, has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Rome, a four-star Under Armour All-American tight end from Valdosta, committed to Georgia for the upcoming 2011 season. Some had worried he would select Alabama, but the 6’5”, 230 Georgia native chose to stick with his home state.

"Georgia is a great school with a great football history,” said Rome on ESPNU. “They call it 'Tight End U.' I want to stay around here and get that in-state love.”

ESPNU rates Rome as the No. 18 recruit overall in the nation this year.
