UGA anticipating 2012 recruiting class for National Signing Day, Feb 1

National Signing Day is this Wednesday, Feb. 1, and Georgia Bulldogs Examiner readers will be able to get their updates here throughout the day.

Thus far, 16 players have committed to UGA in what promises to be a strong recruiting class. But, there are still some unanswered commitment questions fans can look forward to having answered come Wednesday, including the following:

Josh Harvey-Clemons:  Considered by most to be the best recruit in Georgia this year, and the top linebacker in the nation by many. He was the Georgia Region 1-AAAAA Player of the Year, and All-State First Team. He’s had offers from numerous colleges, basically every major college on the map, and is currently still considering Georgia, Florida and Florida State.

Dalvin Tomlinson:  The native of McDonough, GA, is not huge, at 270 pounds, but the defensive tackle is being highly recruited by the Bulldogs, who need some talent to add to the 3-4 D. Currently, he is considering Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama.

Trae Elston:  A safety from Oxford High School in Oxford, AL, Elston is still all over the place in the decision-making process. Although he still includes UGA in his list of favorites, he is also still looking at Oklahoma State, USC, LSU, UCF and Ole Miss, and it appears OSU is leading the pack. But, UGA is still in the game, at least in theory.

Cordarrelle Patterson: A 6’4”, 205 wide receiver out of Kansas, Patterson would be a great score for the Dawgs, who need some new blood in the position, but he is not saying much about where he is leaning. Right now, he has only revealed that he has narrowed his choices down to three schools, but whether or not UGA is even in the hunt at this point, who knows?

The 16 verbal commitments to Georgia include the following:

  1. Faton Bauta: Quarterback; Dwyer HS; West Palm Beach, FL
  2. Mark Beard: Offensive Lineman; Coffeyville C.C.; Coffeyville, KS
  3. Greg Pyke: Offensive Lineman; Boys Latin School; Baltimore MD
