UGA advances in 'NCAA Football' cover vote

Could a Georgia Bulldog be on the cover of “NCAA Football 14?”

That could be a reality real soon as the Bulldogs are one of the 16 schools that are finalist for the “NCAA Football” Cover Vote.

For “NCAA Football 14”, EA Sports decided to do something different and give every school a chance to be on the cover of the upcoming game. The voting is done through the NCAA Football Facebook page and the voting started in early December.

Georgia, Georgia Tech and 30 other schools were able to reach the second round while Notre Dame won the first round with the majority of the 600,000 votes tallied.

Georgia Tech was able to get enough votes to make it to the third round, but the Bulldogs were able to as they came in eight place out of the top 16 schools. Alabama won the second round of voting after coming in 17th place in the first round.

If the Bulldogs get enough votes to advance to the round of eight, EA Sports will pick the potential cover athletes from each school starting Jan. 23. The voting for the cover athletes will begin on Feb 4.

The reason the Bulldogs are getting the votes could be how they finish the 2012 season. They finished with a 12-2 mark and were five yards away from defeating Alabama in the SEC title game, which would have given them a shot at BCS National Championship against Notre Dame.

“NCAA Football 14” will hit the shelves in mid-July. The new features for the game has yet to be determined.
