On Jan. 13, 2014, the United Film & Television Artists (UFTA) held their monthly meeting. Their venue for this month was planning for the new year, under general business, and reporting updates on their upcoming film!
UFTA met at Perkins, near Crystal Drive and U.S. 41, in Fort Myers, Fla.
Networking officially began at 6:30 p.m., but members began arriving by 6 p.m. The restaurant's meeting room filled up soon. Eating and networking was until 7:15 p.m., and then the meeting began.
UFTA President Al Quinn opened the meeting. He caught everyone up on the latest with the film and TV group, and then turned it over to Ernesto Lasso de la Vega, the film's director of photography (DP).
"We've been hard at work on this film, 'Casting.' We had the idea to produce it a few years ago, and most of last year we have been actually working on it, in the pre-production stage of it that is.
I have kind of stayed out of the latest planning stages, and now as co-director, co-producer and one of the actors, I'm ready to begin!" - Al Quinn
Examiner.com was invited to the meeting. It appeared, from all the talk, that they were more than ready to begin production on the film. Everyone seemed excited. The script has had its, hopefully, final tweak, and everyone was discussing makeup, wardrobe, props, lighting, music, editing, and such.
During most of the meeting, Lasso de la Vega, a Biology professor at Edison State Univeristy, shared the idea and concept of the film. He gave a full synopsis of "Casting" as well.
Following the film discussion was a Q&A time all about the script, the shoot location, the shoot date (Feb. 8) and more.
