On Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, a local film and televison organization, UFTA, met for their monthly meeting of networking, educating and sharing news about all things in the areas of entertainment. They also recognized two outstanding talents, Cassidy Reyes and Stu Pepper.
There was discussion on many topics for the new year.
In addition, new members were announced. They were Dr. Joe Reyes, Cassidy Reyes and previous member Bill Amore.
New member Cassidy Reyes, 15, was born and raised in Fort Myers. She was kind enough to share about some of her life experiences as a budding actress. Although after getting to know her better it was obvious that acting is nothing new to this young lady.
"I first realized I wanted to be part of the entertainment industry when I was very young. When I was little I was never shy, and I always loved to be in front of people.
By the time I reached the age of about 13 I realized that acting was what I was born to do. I cannot express in words how much I love reading lines from a script and making them my own.
I've loved the thought of being in front of a camera my whole life!
As much as I love acting, though, I would also like to get into modeling. I know I cannot do runway modeling, as I'm too short, but there are many other kinds of modeling."
Turns out Cassidy is not the only family member interested in showbiz.
"My aunt was a model. She was also in a horror movie when she was young. Other than that no one else in my family acts.
My dad [Dr. Joe Reyes], however, would also love to get involved in acting."
Thanks Cassidy for that. This talented young entertainer had much more to share, and she will have the opportunity to do just that in upcoming articles.
Stu Pepper, a UFTA officer, was that night's speaker. He shared about his experience on a TV show and about something else that was up close and personal to him - a new film!
Pepper is an attorney, actor and writer who is known for creating stories that become films.
In December 2012 Pepper held a reading of one of his new scripts, "The Cure," and during the reading Pepper read the part of Terrance, Cassidy Reyes read for Rebecca, and her father, Dr. Joe, read as a variety of characters.
At this January UFTA meeting Pepper discussed the current status of his script and his upcoming appearance on television's Dr. Phil. The show will air, in this local area, at 5 p.m. on January 10, on CBS.
To learn about other locations where it will air go to Dr. Phil. The website will show one's city, station and time. The name of the particular show is "Ashley Toye: Monster or Mistake?"
"The show was very professionally done... " - Stu Pepper
More to follow on Pepper's experience.
All in all this month's UFTA meeting got off to a great start for the new year.
Special thanks goes to UFTA, Cassidy Reyes and Stu Pepper.
