On Oct. 14, 2013, the United Film & Television Artists (UFTA) will meet at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Fla., for their first rehearsal for the film "Casting." The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
UFTA President Al Quinn, who resides in Fort Myers, Fla., said that he has announced and invited members and guests to the organization's general meeting. The rehearsal will follow.
UFTA has been holding readings for this short documentary and comedy (Docomedy), throughout the summer, and now the film's first rehearsal is about to unfold.
All the film's characters have been chosen. There are 14. Not all of the actors, and a few non-actors, have worked together yet, but tonight they will!
The film's director of photography (DP), Ernesto Lasso de le Vega, will attend the meeting tonight and begin some intial filming during the rehearsal. Such shooting will be a good way to study the actors and their blocking (how they move within the scenes).
The purpose of this documentary is to instruct and better inform UFTA members and guests to the world of acting. The short film will share some of the dos and don'ts of attending a film or TV casting.
"The initial idea for this film began a few years ago. We have had several readings over the summer and early fall, but now it's time to rehearse and even shoot some of it if only for 'study purposes' leading up to the real shoot days.
We look forward to the final results and have a great cast and crew to make it happen!"
