MUFONs 40th Anniversary Symposium gatherers were treated to, what looks like an attempt at a bumpy landing by a UFO. I'm sure this UFO was previously identified as seen in the Trent photos at McMinnville, Oregon This extraterrestrial landing was in the Silent Auction area of the atrium of the Marriott Hotel at the Denver Tech Center. I am grateful that Dr. Bruce Maccabee was on hand to help me identify the craft. The MUFON event was so widely publicized that interest was really coming from everywhere!
Although no actual extraterrestrial beings were seen, there was proof that they have actually been everywhere. Attendance to the MUFON event exceeded expectations and projections. So how does an organization, "pull off" one of the biggest events of the year? VOLUNTEERS! Plain and simple, VOLUNTEERS!!! After being moved from a different location in the country, MUFON International had only 6 months to find, a location, collect the speaker lineup and make other arrangements for this event. So who do you call? Director James Carrion called Leslie Varnicle, State Director of Colorado and her crack team! Their efforts were recognized at the awards ceremony!
Coming to the rescue were outside volunteers! "Outside" meaning those persons who came to the event, saw the action and felt they had to become one with the spirit of the event! Doug, a teacher from Maryland, came and jumped right in to help with the Silent Auction as did another unexpected volunteer, Darlene. Both added their talent and humor to make working in the Silent Auction "dungeon" both fun and eventful! Needless to say, no matter how much I harassed them and worked them, they kept coming back for more! Of couse, I must admit they, in turn, harassed me as much or more! Talking to other members of MUFON, the generous work of outside volunteers wasn't unusual! The volunteers came from everywhere to offer their assistance and talent in other areas of the event! This doesn't include the many contributions made by many of the vendors and special thanks to Clif Bars for their generosity. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!
Also invaluable was Joe Fex, who's knowledge about the value of the thousands and thousands of books at the auction was always in demand! There were many classic and collectors edition books donated by founding member John Schuessler with other books from the Walter Andrus collection. Even member and celebrity, Dan Aykroyd, donated signed items. The depth of Joe Fex's knowledge of books never ceased to amaze me; all this from a Bigfoot expert!

Of course we can't forget the real reason people came to the event - the speakers! Stanton Friedman, as did Peter Robbins and many others came through with their knowledge and experience to bestow upon the public! Star team technical leader and speaker Chuck Medlin, showed his packed audience an amazing view through the latest generation of night vision goggles! For those of you who aren't familiar with them, night vision goggles are great to view the night sky for alien activity. This is not to miss the other many speakers who gave impressive seminars as a press conference was held to introduce them. Throughout the event, one would see the press members of the Discovery Channel and History Channel, 20/20 and of course various local tv channels and newspapers. Barry Roth who was in charge of the media did an impressive job getting Alejandro Rojas an interview on Coast to Coast AM..
As MUFON volunteer, member Ernie, a.k.a. "Big Ernie" stated, a guest said to him, " . . .unlike some years - there wasn't a really stand-out speaker, but he felt that - as a group - the speakers were very good and he would rate this as the best symposium he had attended." In an unusual turn of events, Barry Roth went on to state that a local news station call to thank him for allowing them to interview MUFON.

Don't forget the Vendors! Jeff Peckman was there getting signatures for his ballot initiative for an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission. Authors Kevin Randle, Stanton Friedman, Dr. Bruce Maccabee, Chris Rutkowski and European award Winner, Ehanamani (Dr. A.C. Ross) were among others to sign autographs, promote their books and talk to the public! Other notable vendors were Karyn Dolan, John Ventre, representatives of a Galactic Gathering and more!
I think James Carrion and his team called the title of this Symposium correctly, it undoubtedly is the "Dawn of a New Era in UFO Research"!!
NEXT: Don't you dare miss the upcoming 2009 Paranormal Symposium at Angel Fire! There likely isn't a better event, at a better place, at a better value! IT IS DEFINITELY ANOTHER EVENT YOU GOTTA SEE!!

Aliens live in our Earth's atmosphere
Every Saturday, when the weather is good, I GO TO Manhattan (Columbus Circle & Time Warner Center) to show people AFOs (Aliens Flying Object) in the night sky after sunset. Hundreds of people saw AFOs the way I described them in my article. Be one of them.

Like I said before,I was in OPS in the military and spent a long time in MUFON. It aint what its hyped up to be folks. I dont call 300 some people at the syposyum a success. Ive been to some with nearly 900. There are a lot of fine investigators out there,and they know better than to do it for MUFON. MUFON has more gov. people than the gov.but you folks just keep on thinking otherwise now...ok? Glen.
Glen... short for Glenda btw... I think I remember you but you weren't in OPS you were in oops. The symposium was the smartest group of people I've ever been around. They were committed and fact focused. It was almost a family and friends social outside of the lectures. I felt trust was built which is an excellent base from which a great organization should come. Glad to be a member and equally as glad people like glennie are not. Larry you are a worker man... and a real unselfish person! Rock On y'all...
