UFO witness testimony continues into 2013 as possibly the strongest tool in the box for American ufologists who make it their business to understand the intelligence behind unidentified flying objects.
First off – there’s a lot of it.
And looking around the block, you don’t have multiple bumpers falling off UFOs for study. It’s not as simple as laying blame to an assembly crew on Planet Z – “That damn TAB-41-B model crew. Never secured the rear bumpers properly.“ Most photography – still and video take your pick – is B-movie grade, ho-hum average.
Raw witness testimony – filtered through the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) investigation system – is an Indiana Jones’ bonanza. Many testimony roads to choose along a never-ending and rather weird journey.
2012 Witness Testimony Awards to MUFON and to Peter Davenport and his National UFO Reporting Center – both for collecting powerful witness testimony along a cross section of the U.S. Robert Hastings gets the Best On-Going Investigation Award for continuing coverage of UFOs and Nukes - which is also the title of his excellent book. MUFON Executive Director David MacDonald takes the UFO Leadership Award for overseeing the best UFO field investigators on the planet alongside his worldwide expansion endeavors sending him off to Paris later in January. MUFON Chief Investigator and Texas State Director Steve Hudgeons gets the Best of Luck in 2013 Award for taking on strategic UFO investigation management on such a wide scale. MUFON Board Member Marie Malzahn gets the Overall Excellence in Ufology Award for her continuing command of multiple roles, flexibility and passion. Pennsylvania State Director John Ventre takes the First Annual Anderson Cooper Was A Toad Award mostly for not breaking the host's nose after the nationally televised UFO debacle that pushed mainstream UFO coverage back to the Stone Age. The folks at Anomalist.com take the Best Paranormal Web Coverage Award for their continued and unique link coverage of odd activities happening worldwide. The Hats Off 2012 Award goes out to everyone who is involved in ufology in any form, especially those who work within MUFON - the many great State Directors, Chief Investigators, State Section Directors, and the very many Field Investigators who make MUFON tick so well on a daily basis.
The triangle shape remained a strong “top three” pick among MUFON’S 23 shape choices in 2012 – including “other” in case none of the defined 22 shapes fit. The triangle may be important for many reasons – but these might be the top two: 1. The triangle is a popular shape described in cases where the proximity between the witness and the object was alarmingly close. 2. The triangle shape is frequently reported as an in-development shape within the “secret” U.S. arsenal of aerial vehicles.
This small and emerging group of Americans who have experienced the triangle up-close vary testimony mainly in size as the triangle can be described as small as your compact car or as large as multiple football fields. Most seem to agree that the object is silent and its exterior lighting system does not match current FAA regulations – generally described with white lights at each of the three points and a centered red light at the bottom – although color and light placement does vary greatly.
Ufologists are carefully studying all testimony - but there is particular interest if the witness was within 1,000 feet of the actual object. These “close encounters” continue to collect in the MUFON witness database on almost a daily basis. While it’s a small piece of the American population on any given day, the numbers of people over time who seem to describe a non-existent human intelligence abounds.
The “non-existent” label is applied when no nation, group or individual claims responsibility for the seemingly superior technology. But yet the “technology” is being reported.
The object seems to project itself very quickly into an individual’s air space, moves about, and then projects itself out again at great speeds – or simply appears to disappear in place. And while there is an abundance of sighting reports where the U.S. military is in hot pursuit of the reported object – no single report of a U.S. reconnaissance flight against a UFO is on record for 2012. None – zip. Thank you, black opps programs.
Further study is needed and stories based on MUFON statistics will be released later this year. But I have a general feeling after four years of full-time UFO coverage of domestic U.S. reports that UFOs tend to get up-close with small town Americans in low populated or more rural settings. Good UFO reports do come from the higher populated cities, but small town America appears to be reporting a much higher percentage of the better reports. (This point will be reported on with statistical evidence in 2013.)
The weirdness factor is now a necessity in American ufology as investigators attempt to explain an on-going list of strange features being reported. Why do electronics often fail during a UFO encounter? Why is this gigantic object able to hover 10 feet over my neighbor’s house and not make a single sound – and hey, while we’re talking, what’s holding it up? And then there are those few cases where a good witness is identified who appeared to interact in ways with the object that defy time and basic consciousness rules. And all the while Anderson Cooper is only willing to give network time to a misplaced UFO bumper and perhaps an advanced (90 days with Cooper) invitation to the actual UFO landing on the White House lawn. Now while that will have to be cleared with White House intelligence sources, Cooper further demands exclusive interview rights for CNN with a UFO creature in a decision-making role. The creature should have a blue suit.
Mainstream media gets another “F” for 2012 coverage with only the usual spattering of intelligence in small doses. Even Anderson Cooper tripped and fell over the alien-iscal cliff when it quickly became clear he had not an ounce of professional UFO background and only offered Americans a Jerry Springer-isk episode while Pennsylvania State Director John Ventre took it on the chin.
Ventre was the only breathing professional on stage and he was ignored. By Anderson Cooper. Did we mention Anderson Cooper did the interview? Cooper- whose first name is Anderson – can generally be counted on to cover wars and earthquakes and shootings and royal stuff, but he blew it with UFOs.
The 2012 network hour included a surprise psychic guest. I need not say more. Ufologists who saw it groaned. Several popped a Tums.
Five Persisting – no, often agonizing – did I mention painful? – questions remain for the 2013 ufologist?
- How is the UFO able to continue appearing consistently and sporadically across most every region in the United States without leaving behind scientifically-verifiable evidence?
- While commonly reported UFO shapes include the sphere, the disc and the triangle, why does it seem like no two UFO reports describe exactly the same model?
- Why does the size of the UFO vary between reports from softballs to objects measured in football field lengths?
- Why do a significant number of UFO reports include the witness describing what appear to be U.S. military jets or helicopters in pursuit, yet not a single U.S. military report concerning UFOs was released to the public in 2012?
- Why is mainstream media avoiding any regular coverage of UFOs when such a significant amount of witness testimony indicates the UFO anomaly is persistent and ongoing?
What to do if you see a UFO in 2013
- Safety First – If you feel that you are in danger – immediately move away from the observation area and call police – dial 911.
- Observation and recordings – If you feel safe, attempt to record the object with still photography or video. Be careful to keep the camera still especially with videos. Make an attempt to gain additional witnesses.
- Call 911 and report your observation.
- Report your sighting to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) at MUFON.com.
Happy New Year
