A Newport News, VA, witness was driving home at 8:10 p.m., October 12, 2010, and noticed an object "the size of a Cessna" hovering in a wooded area just 100 feet off of the highway, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
"But I looked at the object in great detail. It was not a chopper," the witness stated. "Then I thought it may be a fighter jet standing still in air..But as I drove past it, I find the shape to be amusing. It has features extending below its body like a stand, several of them and there were lights around them. I am certain that it was not a fighter jet due to its peculiar shape."
The witness turned his car around the drove past the object again - figuring the object was out of view for just 15 seconds - "but this object was not to be seen" again.
The witness says that the area is adjacent to several homes, and hopes there were more witnesses.
The following day, October 13, 2010, a Virginia couple reported a strange object hovering near the ground in Floating 'black box' UFO 100 yards away makes no sense to Virginia man.
No images or video were submitted with the MUFON report, which was made on October 13, 2010.
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. VA, October 12, 2010 - sighted an unidentified object standing still in the air about 100 ft away from me. MUFON Case # 25864.
I live in Newport News/VA.
12th night October -2010 (Tuesday). I was driving back from Hampton roads after having my usual hair cut at supercuts.
Was driving on the highway at about 45miles/hr.I see this object the size of a sesna , still in the air , across the highway , in the wooded area.
I see it from some distance so I slow my vehicle to take a look and might be at a speed of 20miles/hr.
My vehicle dont have tinted glasses. So I was observing the features of the object in great detail. It did not occur to me that it may be a UFO .
But I looked at the object in great detail. It was not a chopper.
Then I thought it may be a fighter jet standing still in air..But as I drove past it, I find the shape to be amusing. It has features extending below its body like a stand ,several of them.and there were lights around them.
I am certain that it was not a fighter jet due to its peculiar shape.
After I passed this object, I immediately realized it may be a UFO.
i took a U turn at the next signal. 15 seconds might have elapsed .
I took U turn and am back on the highway, but this object was not to be seen. I even had my cell ph camera turned on to capture any unusual sightings.
Then i turned back at next signal to get back home and passed this section of the road . there was nothing significant. But could see some sparks like flashes , very faint ones. just like electric sparks. but that was it
After I got home I spoke with my friend and sister about this.
I tried to convince myself that it is not a UFO.
But having seen this object in such great detail, makes me feel it is not a usual flying object .
the area behind the highway is some what wooded. and there is no way a human operated vehicle could fly or stay still in air at such a low elevation
The elevation being 80% the height of a street light.
you may contact me on my email provided. But I dont think there is any traceable evidence.
But I would be curious to see if anybody has reported such sighting on same night. and btw this area is adjacent to few homes so it is very possible that someone living in those houses might have seen something and just ignored the fact

I'm at dominion power in Chester, VA, and I saw a very bright yellow light in the sky while looking out over the sewage treatment plant.. It was almost dusk, I'd say about 6:30-6:45. I didn't notice it moving, flashing, or even twinkling at all, but when I looked again not even 30 minutes later, it was gone. This happened on the 12th and 13th, and also one day last week. The time I saw it last week it was almost directly over Richmond.
I am sure people are seeing things, be it explainable, balloons or UFOs. However these are not of ET alien sources, but of intradimensional, fallen angels. Jesus's return is soon and Satan knows this. He has been preparing mankind for approx. 50 years via movies, New age books, ect. As the Bible states Satan and his fallen angels, demons can disguise themselves as angels of light. After the true believers in Christ are gathered to Him in the air. (1 Thess. 4:16-17) there will be a great deception. Could it be Aliens that will state they removed the people that will be a hinderance to the great enlghtenment or the next move to evolution? Satan is the father of lies, deception and a murderer. But Jesus is the truth, the way and the life. We are rebellious against God as Satan is. However Jesus has given forgiveness to those who ask and follow Him. NOT to Satan and his fallen angels.
Thanks, you've totally cleared up the whole UFO mystery for me. I can't believe there are so many people thinking they are from outerspace, when in fact UFO's hail from somewhere much more likely - heaven itself!!! Now you've cleared that up can you explain an even greater mystery - if god is all forgiving then why doesn't he forgive satan and the demons, seeing as lucifer's greatest sin was pride and mankind has that and other much worse sins, by the bucketload.
...and btw, who exactly did Satan murder? I know Lucifer and his cronies fought a battle against Jehovah and his supporters but as I recall the bible didn't give too much casualty data.
Your Welcome. Majority does not make right. I believe God, His word. God is forgiving but does not state He is all forgiving. Satan and the fallen angels are not forgiven. Lucifer's pride, as ours, to be God or as he said to Eve, "You will be like God." He was the most high of God's created angels, he seeing God, creation, became arrogant to the extreme. No I am sure most would not see this as a bad "sin" but it is rebellion against God. Satan incites murder if he does not only cause murder on earth. Example is in the book of Job. God however sovereign even over him. Does allow him to inflict death and destruction on Job and his famliy. God's purpose is greater. We are also rebellious against God, HIs word and commandments. All Satan has to do is use what is already in us to cause evil, death and destruction. God's plan of salvation, becoming lowly man, (and still God) to take what punishment deserved, Hell. for those who ask for forgiveness, upon Himself. As the thieves on the crosses also mocked Jesus saying "If you are the Son Of God take yourself off the cross" Then God revealed His truth to one of them, He suddenly knew his guilt and Jesus being innocent' Cried out to the other thief " We are guilty and deserving of punishment. Please remember me when you enter your kingdom" Jesus said " tonight you will be in paradise with me" What more love is there than one who dies for his enemy? Why does God save man and not Satan? Maybe because he had it all and rejected it? His resurrection, proves His diety, and victory over sin and death. Satan has used various enities over the centuries to deceive. UFO Seen on the side of Route 66 Between Manassas and Gainesville Virginia.
I had a very similar Sighting to yours on October 16 2010 but mine was in Northern Virginia around 6:30pm.
I was driving with my wife West on RT 66, after Manassas and before the Gainesville Va exit, I saw on the other side of the East bound lanes a large dark object with multiple bright lights that seemed to form the shape of a V or an elongated Triangle.
The object was black and had several (8-12) bright white lights on the bottom.
The object was hovering, didn't make any sound and was only 200-300 feet in the air.
As I passed the object I slowed down and tried desperately to observe every little detail possible.
One interesting fact is where the object was hovering. The object was hovering over a local farm and was hovering above what looked to be horses. This was the only area/field that seemed to have any farm animals (Horses) in them.
I would estimate the size of the object to be about the size of two large jumbo jets or possibly even larger.
I suspect there are multiple witnesses since this sighting occurred around 6:30pm in an area where the traffic was moderately heavy.
I do want to point out that I'm a lifelong Amateur Astronomer that is very familiar with the Day and Nighttime sky.
And as any good investigator should do I have searched for other possibilities of what this object might have been.
The only thing I know for sure is this object was definitely not a Helicopter or any other type of Conventional aircraft.
If there are any others who were driving in this area of Gainesville, Haymarket, Manassas or Fairfax Virginia and also saw this Sighting.
Please post what you saw.
