UFO on White House Christmas card turns out to be a hoax

On Sunday, December 18, 2011, a woman named Dawn who hails from Pine Ridge in South Dakota claimed she received an official White House Christmas card from FLOTUS Michelle Obama that prominently featured a UFO in the sky above a winter White House scene. The story was picked up by several news sites including Michael Cohen's reputable All News Web.

There's just one problem with the story. It turned out to be a hoax. The woman who started it all has admitted that the UFO on the Christmas card is not genuine. A message she placed on her YouTube channel reads, in part:

"So don't panic! There are no UFOs over the White House -- the card was photo shopped or dubbed."

Previously, the woman had claimed that she received multiple cards from the White House, one of which contained two "spaceships hovering over the White House."

"I received several Christmas Cards this year from the White House. The last card definitely had 2 spaceships hovering over the White House. I searched the internet and finally found a Christmas card like this one on EBay BUT it didn't have any spaceships. But on my card there are definitely 2 shiny objects in the sky and on the back it reads: May your holidays shine with the light of the season."

Furthermore, the official 2011 White House Christmas card is a warm and cozy shot of the Obamas' dog Bo relaxing in front of a fireplace, not an exterior shot of the White House (with or without a UFO in the background).

According to Hot Air Pundit, LA artist Mark Matuszak was commissioned to create the card. The artist told the LA Times: “They wanted to do an inside shot, something home related . . . So we thought, let’s put Bo in front of a fireplace.”

The inside of the card features the inscription “From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season." There isn't a UFO in sight.
